Djiboutian demographics and distribution

Just recently, I learnt that during the colonial era, the French imported afar on masse to rig the elections that would've united djibouti with the rest of somalia. Is it true that this is the main reason that today, afar are now a sizable minority and that before, northern and central djibouti were predominantly somali and thus belong to the somali state? Djiboutians soo gala

Yeah and many Somalis were deported by the French government to Somalia some still living in Djibouti were even banned and intimidated during the elections by French Colonial Soldiers.

If it was an actual free and fair election Djibouti would have voted overwhelmingly to join Somalia
all the way back in 1967 or even 1958
