I tear up when I imagine what could've been had Adal won. The Imam may have expanded to sudan.
With guns and canons and a much larger population. The Adalites would easily conquer and replace the bantus of the great lakes. If they took over the Ajuuran and learned their naval technology they could've even taken madagascar.

No clue. Ever since the Ogaden war failed and the downward spiral to civil war somalis have lost their conquering nature.
Somalis always had periods of isolation and then religious fervor take over and Somalis start invading and conquering.
Somalis failed ogaden and tried to go back to petty clan bef but isolation is impossible in the modern world so we are paying the price of it now.
If we don't get back on our feet the Somali race will die.
The qing had te largest navy in the world. It was the time period the Chinese navy went around the indian ocean giving gifts and visiting leaders, including the Ajuuran somali which sent a giraffe as a gift to China.
The qing could've easily become a colonial power in eastern Asia and West Coast America if they tried. Their ships absolutely massive for the time and their population and economy was the biggest in the world.

We need a better class of historians to compile the last 600 years into well organised histories. It's too messy atm.
