Where do you draw the line of our ancestral homeland? Somalis have expanded south in the past thousand years, and inland even recently. So by that logic wouldn't that mean your allegiance is for Somaliland instead? Since that's where Somalis originally inhabited.

Somalis as a nation are spread out not just in Somalia, the Somali nation is in Djibouti, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

Somalis are not restricted to just Somalia. Somalia is a political entity. Somaliweyn is the Somali nation, which has no political alliance since it's spread out amongst many different countries.

Why would reer jabuuti be loyal to farmaajo and the administration in xamar when they have their own country?
There's no point trying to over complicate things. Yes Somalis expanded from the north into the south & west of the HOA, and the lands they acquired were either empty or were previously oromo lands. The borders we currently have today are a direct result of colonialism, the brits gave Somali galbeed to Ethiopia; NFD was given to Kenya by the brits as well and Dijbouti is an artificial state that was created by the French. The rest of Somalia was further divided by the brits in the north & the italians controlling Punt & Konfuur. You can clearly see that we as a nation did not choose these borders, we never wanted to divide ourselves. In the early 20th century, Somali nationalism was growing fast & most Somalis from all corners of the HOA wanted to unite under one Somali state, but unfortunately that never worked out due to colonial forces & Somali sellouts working against the interests of the nation.

Trust me, I out of all people know about the colonial history of Somalis.

But how on earth does that mean we should be loyal to Somalia? Why can't we be loyal to Jabuuti? Somali kilil? Somaliland or even Kenya(nfd)?

In that sense, shouldn't all the 5 divided Somalis be loyal to their respective governments? Why Somalia, that can not even help its own people?

It's clear what the answer is, you choose Xamar since there is a clan that benefits most. This is why Somaliweyn cannot exist. It has never and will never.

Ultimately, why should Somalis respect the boders that were created by ajnabis? Yes Somalia is currently unstable & very poor, but eventually when we begin to develop & modernise i'm sure the Somalis from the lost territories will want to reunite with Somalia since it will be more sensible & beneficial to be with your kinsfolk than be treated like a second class citizen in your own land by ajnabis.

Why do all these ethnic groups virtually sound the same?

All of this confusion could have been saved by a simple name change. :frdfvsb:

No idea:pachah1:.
How the Amharan's refer to us as Tigre and the Tigre ethnic group in Eritrea actually is only the same by spelling, the e at the end is pronounced differently.

To make it more confusing, we refer to ourselves as Tegaru:damedamn::drakekidding:.

You have a point about Ogaden, but Djibouti was given the choice to join Somalia back in the 60's and refused then. Plus Somalis are the majority there so they aren't treated any worse.

Fair enough, but the referendum was actually rigged by the french.
:mjlol:

They imported more Afars from Ethiopia to sway the results. Since Djibouti is majority Somali its up to them if they'd want to reunite with a stable & prosperous Somalia in the future.

They also deported the Cisse's to Ethiopia, especially Dire Dawa where they are one of the 3 largest clans there(other 2 being Afran Qallo/Oromo and Gurgura)
