Dislike sending money (Extreme rant)

I feel angry at god and people back home of not changing there situation as they are nothing but burden upon the Somali diaspora. Since my hooyo passed away the responsibility has been passed onto as me as none of my siblings don't help out including my uncle living in Sweden who don't speak or answer my uncle calls from Somalia as i believe too he has had enough of him. My estimate i probably sent 20k in the past decade.

Thats like putting ur hard earned money in a trash can. Especially when u dont know/dont talk to the person. I Never give anybody my money unless close family members.

I will send the money if they are in need. People back home are mostly on survival mode, pay check to pay check, and can't go beyond that and or plan to change their situation with little money we send to them. I believe your 20k over a decade means you used to send around 167 dollars each month wish is not that much.

very understandable, but what you'd have done if you were in their shoes? I am really interested to hear what diaspora Somalis like you suggest Somalis back home to do in environment that lacks opportunities, jobs, or even stability. It’s easy to say "shaqeeso" but how realistic is that when survival is their only focus?

I think diaspora Somalis should do "teach me how to fish" initiatives that helps Somalis back home make some businesses that helps them and give them opportunities to stand on their own feet. Things like greenhouses, fish factories to create jobs, etc.

Idk if it’s possible for you but you should start planning ahead and figuring out if it’s possible to help them become financially selfsufficient.. like helping them set up a business or get them into farming etc.

Look at this way , you have the opportunity to help your relatives.
You get good deeds and also you are upholding the ties of kinship which is very much encouraged in Islam to maintain relationships with relatives.

Send what you can afford .

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: β€œWhoever would like his provision to be increased and his life to be extended, should uphold the ties of kinship.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari, 5986 and Muslim, 2557)

You are looking at this with the wrong lens.
I will give you an example.

Nabi suleiman (AS) asked Allah to give him a power that no one before him has had and no one after him will ever have. And Allah gave it to him.
His dua initially kind of sounds selfish as in other nabis could have asked for a similar gift.
But the reason he made that dua is because he is the only one qualified to handle such a power.
He was raised a nabi, his dad was a nabi, he grew up in royalty because his dad was a king nabi dawud. He was a just king and knew every member of his army. Yet he was limited by what he could do for the sake of Allah. That is why he made that dua and thus he was able to do more because Allah increased him in his good qualities.

My brother instead of being mad at the masakin you are helping. Ask Allah to help you increase your risq so that you could do more for the sake of him. There is qualities you have being the only one that is doing this in your family and Allah has bestowed this responsibility on you based on seeing how much you care. So Ask Allah to increase you in your good qualities and ask him to help you do more. Your mother will get hasanat for continuing her good deeds as well. Also ask Allah for forgiveness for what you said. Allah knows your frustration but at the end of the day he will be to you what you think of him and thinking bad of Allah is not good for you.

this is a legitimate concern

the fobs live better than us. Income and no stress under the beam of the sun with zero thanks

Why be angry with them or Allah? No one is holding you hostage. You forget you have free will? You're probably resentful at yourself for putting yourself in this spot.

The Swedish part is familiar to me too. I know people like that. I chalk it up to them assimilating into that culture.

as long as those remittance companies are there nothing will improve in the country I believe. They benefit greatly from the way it's now.

I've helped relatives, usually by investing in their business and having land as collateral, sending cash is just a waste, they just beg for more.

Why don’t you help your family become self-sufficient, the situation back home is not easy there’s no jobs unless you are related to a minister. Here are some examples of businesses back home.
