So unfortunately I am diagnosed with a chronic illness. One of the symptoms is said to be generalised anxiety. So my doctor prescribed me to take anti anxiety medication. Tbh I’m got old school mentality and Im very wary of anything that changes brain chemicals. My doctor said that my neurotransmitters in my brain has restricted blood flow, thus causing anxiety. Honestly I probably do somewhat have feelings of angst but it’s manageable and I have no intention of taking this medication. I’ve heard anecdotes of it serious messing with people but Idk if it has any basis. Walahi I’m scared it will affect my brain in some way. The problem is I’m in a position where I’m forced to. What shall I do walahi?

I can't consult you fully considering I'm not a doctor. I have heard that it takes a while to find the right medication for you. It's all about how it makes you feel, and the way it interacts with your brain chemistry.

Stay away from that stuff. You will become dependent. Like those fat millennials who will rope themselves if they can’t get their Rx of Adderall (amphetamines). If you want to reduce anxiety, you have to remove all possible causes of anxiety in your lifestyle. Make sure your abode is clean and tidy at all times. Absolutely bang gym so that you won’t feel anxious about your body. Get all your work done quick.

Going for a morning run (just something small like a 5K) will make you feel euphoric. The improved blood flow really gets your brain going

Who is forcing you? You also said it’s manageable?

I advocate praying istikharah whenever you face a difficult dilemma such as this. May Allah ease your affairs.

Take it. U need it. Also work on yourself. Start a journal on the first day and document how you progress, writing down any changes good or bad.
