Banakoolo ma taqaanid? ("banakoolo" ama hingaad kale?)
Once upon a time in unc days phones with cameras didn't exist so people couldn't just take photos and immediately see them and share on whatsapp like they do now, rather they had to buy dedicated cameras and put a film roll inside stored in cartridges 1751053389528.png tan waa waxaan ku waday Banakoolo. You would put the cartridge in and look through your viewfinder to direct the photo, then press the button and you get a flash indicating the photo just got taken, and you could not view the photographs unless dukaanki sawirada aad aadid oo ninki sawirada aad kula hadashid markaas ninki sawirada wuxuu galiyaa qolka sawirada a.k.a. a darkroom markaas wuu sixirayaa ama waxkale ma aqaano and a week later or so you get physical proof of your shaky hands

Maxaad lagu sheekaysid banakoolo?
If your parents are anything like my hooyo you probably have a lot of physical photographs taken at wildly different times until just over a decade ago and most of them have been printed already, however she also has some banakoolooyin lying around from when she sent cameras to family back home in xamar in the late 90s, and when they took photos with them they sent it back to her and she sent it to be developed, then mailed out those photographs back to everyone and kept copies of the banakoolooyin for her self. Recently I saw a video showing a technique for getting the photos of old film rolls and i remembered seeing those in our old photo collections, so i wish to share the method and its results

Dhaqso warya sdee saas aan sameyaa !?
You will need: a homogenous lightsource (preferably a backlight but a big LED light will work), a high res camera like modern phone, a computer with photo editing software (i use paint.NET)

Step one you have to put your banakoolo infront of the nal. The technique i saw used a laptop screen to provide light but i find that adds a pixel grid to your image and makes it unviewable. I held it in front of my light to get a smooth light source. Note that LEDs because of a.c. and diode stuff are technically off half the time so you may need to take many images before you get one without a black bar through it. Example of how it may look

Step 2 is to transfer to your computer and start editing. First you want to crop out the image so only what's in the frame can be seen then invert the image, the result is going look like this

As you can see she is very buluug so step 3 is to fix up the colours, we want to lower the blue and add more saturation for red and green. The best way is manually adjust the histogram in "Levels" to kind of get everything match up but the easiest way is the "Auto-Levels" function which does everything for you. At this point it is mostly finished lkn usually wxan ciyaara function "Curves" :gnzbryw: inaan buluugu ka yari. Final result

I love it :wow: thanks for the tutorial I tried to do it 2 years ago out Blurry though
What device do you use for photograph? It helps if the camera has a macro mode as well as high res, or if your light source is really bright, or you can get your banakoolo flat and in place to free up your hand to stead the camera
But the image will always be a bit dusty and low resolution
