Did they strike oil while drilling for water?

The USA right now: "We have received reliable intelligence that Muse Bixi the president of Somaliland has weapons of mass destruction." :mjlol:

Probably not crude oil if it was it is highly flammable and also natural gas is released with it probably manganese

If there is any kind of even remotely positive news coming from SL, you can count the seconds before the cuqdad ridden Jebertis come in bleating about it.

If cuqdad was an alternative fuel source to oil, these people would be richer than the Emiratis & Saudis combined.

Saxiib if you dont post fact based evidence not a random twitter source, your gonna get called out,

This is a discussion fourm we all call each other and debate. Relax

There are several different general types of crude oil. Light crude oil contains a significant amount of natural gas liquids, whereas heavy crude oil has little or no natural gas liquids and instead contains a large number of heavy hydrocarbons. Since crude oil can vary so much in its composition, it can have different viscosity. Light to medium crude oils can pour easy, slightly more viscous than water, and this type of crude oil can flow through porous rock more easily. Thus this type of crude oil is more easy to extract. Conversely, heavier crude oils flow less easily through pores in rock and are thus difficult to extract.

Crude oil can also been characterized using pour point - the lowest temperature at which the liquid will flow just before it becomes solid. A lower pour point is better than a higher pour point as it indicates fewer paraffins in the crude oil and the oil will flow better. As well, the colour of crude oils can vary from nearly colourless - light crude oils - to greenish yellow to reddish to black. Black crude oils are very heavy whereas the other colours likely have other non-hydrocarbon components - such as sulfur - changing their colour

Finally, crude oils can smell different depending on their composition. Sweet crude oils have a more gasoline-like smell, whereas sour crude oils contaminated with high levels of sulfur smell of rotting eggs.

Lol, WTF are you talking about? the source in the OP was a video of what was found - how more fact based evidence than a video can you get? Just drop your BS "i dont care about qabiil, I just react to the news" BS, and own your bias like everyone else.

The trend @InaShaqalle spotted is a tried and trusted one that was demonstrated again in this thread. The Jebertis bend over backwards trying to claim it is anything but oil, whereas others either believe it to be oil or take a neutral approach. This follows the trend of any news that comes out of SL - you can count on the Jebertis to wail, whislt everyone has either a neutral or positive response. Nothing wrong with haterade, just own it.

For the record, I have no idea what it is and think the likelihood of it being oil is minimal.

They are carrying out tests on samples they took albeit tainted with sand as the drillers covered the spillage with sand. It shouldn' be too difficult to get a reading either way as we know extracting oil from sand is an industry in and of its own.

They could also just repeat the drill next to the original well and wait till you hit the same depths. The fact that they drilled past the "oil" and hit sand might indicate they hit a pocket of oil seep. Time will tell!

Odweyne block (of which this is a part of) has thousands of naturally occurring seeps. Much of the discovered in Somaliland during the 19th century was from observations of seeps. Somaliland’s largest natural oil seepage is Xidhka Saliida Oil Point in the Dhagax Shabel Berbera at Dhaban Basin Nine of the better known oil seep locations in Odweyne are Ceeg and bodhley Pits. At Daad madheedh River Field, there are no active seeps. However, oil stained formations in outcrop remain from previously active seeps. Seep geochemistry indicates that light oil is being generated. The seeps lie on the margins of basins identified by the depth to basement study and close to faults interpreted on the Landsat imagery. Based on a regional overview, a tentative assessment of the reservoir and seal intervals indicates that suitable rocks could be present in Odweyne Basin.

Mashallah, may Allah swt make Somaliland rich with oil and gas. More than Saudi Arabia and may Allah swt give Somalia huge oil and gas too.
