Did Somali Americans have it hard growing up ?

"Also I have a theory that it could be some form of FKD towards Isaaqs as they’re the majority of the diaspora."

All I said is I disagree with that statement, not whether or not UK Somalis are bullied
I understand you now. I think you’ve still misunderstood me.

What I’m saying simply some people are Qabilist towards Isaaqs and one of their ways of looking down on them is by making UK Somalis look trash and then looking to what clan is the majority there, which we both agree is Isaaqs and using that as FKD points.

I never said that Issaqs being the majority could be used as FKD points so on that we both agree just that other do that. I hope I made myself clear now.

Most non-hoodrat African Americans are cool, don’t listen to wehatemadowspot, yea they will roast you here and there but that’s just culture (Somali people do this too all the time) they don’t have the hate boner for Islam african Christian’s do, and rather easy to make friends with if your good at sports, you watch anime/sports/up on the current music, you’ll make freinds with them easily, just avoid the really hotheaded ones (especially the “hot Cheeto girl”) type of people. I live in the suburbs outside the twin cities and I live in a nice neighborhood with little to no Somalis, and my high had a low amount of Somalis compared to the other ones so tho so that might alter my perceptions compared to the other Minnesotans tho lol
I was surprised at how big the African American community was when I went out to Minnesota they have a good sized population out there lot of mixed race people to

Minnesota was dominated by educated refugees who fled Mogadishu and Kismaayo during the civil war, mostly Majeerteen. These people were middle-class and ambitious. Hence the large number of success stories till this day. MashaAllah.

Somalis tend to ignore social dynamics, class, educational background etc, when analysing Somali diasporas. If your parents are educated and ambitious, you are more likely to emulate them.
I believe It was more the social segregation that caused Minneapolis somalis to flourish.

Toronto was one of the original diaspora settlements in the 90s and Mj somalis (and somalis of other qabils) from Mogadishu and kismayo greatly numbered the first somalis to enter the city.

Even though you have a point about social class and education levels because growing up mj kids were out performing other qabils and I realized it was because our parents were educated.

Still MJs and all other somalis still failed in Toronto cause the environment wasn't sustainable for our ambitions and success.

I believe this because alot of Mjs moved to Minneapolis from toronto and found greater success over their, also alot of mjs somalis have half siblings in Mn, and our siblings over their found more success in life then us.

Overall social segregation played a big role as Mn somalis were able to create a strong somali community, while in toronto instead of building our own community we end up getting annexed into the black community of toronto, hence why alot of somalis here dont know nothing of their culture and perceive themselves to be black canadian.

Toronto itself has a very interesting impact to groups who settle there. For some reason there is a big shaqo la’aan culture and a lot of groups including Somalis arnt doing much with there lives. Many people who are in their 30s have no job or education and just chill in the crib and turn up for the weekend. Maybe it’s because it’s a global city

Yeah that is 100% facts, never realized how detrimental it was living in a global city until I left that place....urban culture really destroys ambition in life🤦🏿‍♂️
