I went to school in Northside, most of my Somali friends are from the Northside and I live 5 minutes from the Northside now, I know it like the back of my hand and I be chilling in the worst parts of it.

There is nowhere in Toronto or London as dangerous as Southside so you mentioning Northside is pointless because I personally know multiple Somali niggas who’ve been killed in places like Cedar, Karmell area, 24 etc. The only Somali gang death in Northside was the Somali Outlaw big homie chuckie in 2019 and Cedar did that not AAs from Northside.

My family is from Southeast Daygo they grew up fighting not shooting. Seattle had 40 homicides in 2021 with 730k people, Minneapolis has 400k and had 100 murders that’s more than Columbus Ohio with 200 at 900k population. I’m not condoning or promoting it but numbers show MN Somalis kill more, that’s why there’s documentaries about it.

Alx for this. I grew up in Southwest Minneapolis and my childhood was amazing wlh. We have only been here for 30 years and we are comfortably pulling ahead of them socioeconomically.
I also had the benefit of going to an all somali charter school on the weekdays and a somali dugsi on the weekends. The communal systems our parents generation were able to establish was quite a feat wlh nearly equivalent to the jewish and amish when you think about it.

In Minnesota, the caadans are miskeen and soft lmaooooo, they’re the nicest caadans. While here in the U.K., British caadans are no joke, way way more aggressive and violent than these miskeen white caadans in Minnesota. The U.K. is overall way more aggressive than Minnesota.

You can’t compare growing up in Minneapolis in the 1990s/2000s to Iondon in the same period.

Minnesota is probably the most softest, miskeen and overall nice state compare to others.

Bro I think that guy trolling anyone who has been to Mn can see the social dynamics in their city. I believe their segregation is what made them successful compared to other diaspora as they weren't exposed to a degenerate environment from a young age.

I'm in Mn right now.....after the 2020 george floyd riots, their city defunded the police so its dangerous right now but when I visited the city as a teen 2012, 2014 and 2016....this place was heaven.

I can only speak of my personal experience growing up as a Somali in Minnesota. But I don't recall that much conflict, maybe the occasional skirmish with a Mexican or a madow.

The madows who try to act cool and "hood" are the real issue. Most madows are chill.

Then moved to england in the early 2000's and experienced the worst racism from madows in my area got so bad we had to avoid areas and busses. Also I have a theory that it could be some form of FKD towards Isaaqs as they’re the majority of the diaspora. Although there are other clans in big numbers that aren’t Isaaq. I’ve only seen this narrative pushed by our brothers in North America.

What they feel to realise is that you can’t really compare life/upbringing in London one of the most densely populated and diverse cities in the world with growing up in Minnesota. I think the American equivalent would be life in New York, but there aren’t too many Somalis there, so we can’t really compare US to UK diaspora.

Minnesota was dominated by educated refugees who fled Mogadishu and Kismaayo during the civil war, mostly Majeerteen. These people were middle-class and ambitious. Hence the large number of success stories till this day. MashaAllah.

Somalis tend to ignore social dynamics, class, educational background etc, when analysing Somali diasporas. If your parents are educated and ambitious, you are more likely to emulate them.
