Did Hassan sheikh mahamoud defeat Somaliland

It would be cool if an anti-Mogadishu alliance was formed and tabled as a legitimate opposition with proposals from all the parties you've just mentioned, add Laftagareen to make it paramount on HSM's area of control. There all seems to be similar concerns regarding their autonomies. But you make it easy for HSM to ignore these woes with his small ploys like recognition of NE state, parallel JL maamul-in waiting etc. Any future President from Galmudug (incl Marehan), Hirshabelle and Benadir communities will continue to pickpocket the FMS structure until they collect the debris. Abdiweli Gaas made big strides in getting the FMS on the same page when he was PL president but they dissociated after HSM and Farmaajo's election yrs. We need state level think tank platforms to offer far lasting ideas that addresses the unique concerns of peoples, places and phenomena with conclusive settlements, negotiation and concessions. You know all Somalis want to have their cake and eat it.

HSM at this very time wants airfields and marine bases protecting a small zone around an extended Xamar going to Mahaday where Sharif is from up to Baraawe and intends to have strong military support in another term that will see him apply more pressure on the FMS. Deni, Lafta and Madoobe who are all younger than him have time and health on their side. HSM unlike IOG has an insurgency problem but will seek to cement his party under a strong Damuljadiid politburo. The few known fervents were Farah Topaz, Odowaa, Cali Balcad and Aweys Haji. They are figures who hail from marginal representation amongst Hawiye like the Sheikhal, Silcis, Hilibi and Saleban etc a measure by HSM to protect himself. Topaz is his closest aide, then its DJ, then its his family then UPD. Odowaa is now chairman of the group. The wider UPD party is just their IPO and has revolving door members like the PM, Mahad Salaad, Sanbaloolshe, Fiqi, Hassan Macalin, Muuse Suudi etc.

All irrelevant details.

Important details are:

1) FGS has no revenue sources
2) There's no history of central governance (or rather very brief history)

Federal structure, even capital location is not really the key issues.

Like talking about house design when there's no foundation, as soon as external support is gone it's over. It's built on hot air.

This is why Somalia is going to be Afghanistan 2.0 rather than Iraq which had strong central government until regime change and big government revenues.

Somaliland will fold completely once Xamar is stable, corruption-free and the country sees unprecedented wealth expansion, possibly from resource extraction. Somalida worship the £€$¥ not siyaasi hebel or qadiyad hebel. Many Iidoor even came flocking to Xamar in 2006 with hopes of a new Somali order. When that spark returns we will see secession die instantly. Who would want to be broke and isolated when they can be rich and united?
you underestimate the pettiness of the secessionists. :russ:
