Ah well they need to head to Puntland asap. It's clear that there needs to be deep discussions about what needs to happen in regards to constitutional ammendments. The time line is still too short for my liking though, picking the shortest month of the year to start and only going till March 23rd.

I have no problem with the concept of citizenship being pass from either parent. Unfortunately people like us don't run the nation and the old head back home have this veneration for paternal lineage. Personally I think the markers should be whether the child is born in somalia, raised in somalia or has a somali parent.

I believe Somali mother + raised in Somalia, makes you eligible to be a Somali national.
Why can't a half-Somali be a Somali national, but a 0.5 Ajnabi with foreign heritage on both sides, can?
If you are what your father is, strip the nationality away from all the 0.5 minority groups. And after that, strip it away from the thousands of Somalis with a foreign haplogroup.

There are a number of talented people to Somali mothers who weβd be missing out on by not giving them citizenship, however please understand this is NGO backed, itβs a box that shouldnβt be opened. They asked for khanisnimo in parliament one time, give them an inch theyβll take a mile. If it wasnβt NGO backed and there was no foreign interference it may have been agreeable.
The box was opened thousands of years ago, why don't we focus on laws that harm women, children and the elderly?
