Detroits tale or the factors that lead to this present day meant is very interesting, involving growing racial tensions with the majority white populace who took flight in the summer of 67 due to the riots provoked by the government purposefully placing black workers from the great migration, attracted by Fords job opportunities which seemingly didn’t discriminate against blacks, 35 were among dead during the riots that took place 25 of them being black. As you can obviously imagine a group of blacks moving into the nice areas reserved for whites due to their job is hardly a recipe for success. The suburbanization caused the auto industrial executives to move in to this cheap areas (Detroit was renowned for being the center of the US for automobiles) and well the ministers thought it would be the best course of action to do anything in their power to help the companies due to how much sway they had. Sadly this was an extremely bad idea as the economy which sustained itself on the automobile industry began to crumble due to competition and over production of the car. With many american households already having a vehicle. Since the city couldn’t get much tax to sustain itself it couldn’t afford to build or help industries and due to unemployment rates increasing so did crime along with it.
