We still don't have a proper constitution to base our electoral laws on.

Any laws passed provisionally would have little weight and hence would be the cause for non stop disputes.

The constitution should've been the focus from the start.

At least Farmaajos party should have proposed a version created by his party as a manifesto for the upcoming election.

Any party that does that has my vote.

Agreed, I have seen some even argue on Twitter that if Bantus cant vote this election shouldn't count since they usually live outside of major cities where voting would happen.

1 man 1 vote is the future no doubt about that. it will be the only thing that will bring the somali nation together. what people fail to understand is that 1 man 1 vote won't just be isolated to the presidential race of somalia. 1 man 1 vote will be wide spread from electing regional federal leaders to electing mayors, governors and even council representations.

for that happen we would need national ID cards. 1 man 1 vote will start happening in the next election cyle of federal states starting with puntland.

James swan is going around Somalia for this purpose, why do you think puntland who was established in 1998 who never had a 1 man 1 vote is now having one in the next election cycle. And why all of a sudden is somaliland being pressured to have an election for MP'S? somaliland had same MP'S in parliament for 20 years.

1 man 1 vote is the answer to most of our problems but we are not there yet. in 2023 we will be.

I can't even fathom how stupid some on this site have to be, to think their opinions from their comfy couch in the west far outweigh the opinions of those suffering back home that don't want their tribal lying warlord to vote on their behalf with false assurances of a better security.

So many hate on this current government but they never complained when the useless governments of the past barely managed to even acheive debt relief. That's 10 yrs the population lost because some tribal war lords didn't possess the intellectual capacity to convince the IMF that somalia is ready for infrastructure projects like Dr beilah has.
