If I'm honest, the only reason I began to read was for women. I'm glad I started though

I rarely read stuff that’s fiction nowadays. I read a lot of books, articles and papers about academics or my field but I am not interested in reading another book about fantasy.

However, whenever I’m bored or travelling, I will read a fiction book that I’ve already read before (ex: Harry Potter).

Completed 1 book in last month and that was a book I was close to finishing.

I mainly read fantasy books but nothing is interesting me these days. Even new releases of books I really liked

I was in Hargeisa last year and they opened a crazy huge bookshop. Sahan Books I think. But what was interesting was that the books were cheap af. A 30 EUR book in Europe would cost 6 or 7 USD there. Apparently, the shop was opened by that WorldRemit guy and he subsidised all the books so that Somalis would pick up reading in Hargeisa and surrounding areas.

I used to read a lot when I was younger. Now I only read if it’s mandatory for school

Used to devour 700 page books in less then a week, before the rona. Now smarthphones & internet have fried my attention span.

Thanks for posting- those are dire statistics. But its not so bad walaahi given smart phones started in 2007 n we are now in 2023 and still there are 500,k books being bought. I only read my special interest hobbies- like 17 & 18th century English Biographies. I get lost in their world.
