My most important job as a father is to provide for and support my family. I have more important things to deal with than be there at every single of my kids events.

Yep, but most sensible men are active in their children’s lives particular the younger Somali
fathers. We’ve all seen the repercussions of men who think like that and we’ve all seen how mass incarceration and being a ‘roadman’ has impacted the kids of our community. We’ve all seen how some of our kids have behavioral problems in their earlier years since abo isn’t around and some Somali hooyos struggle. All of that has contributed to a lost generation of boys who haven’t been able to achieve at the level that they should. You even see this issue, but on a grander scale in the madow community and that isn’t a community we want to learn from.
