Waa Somali. Really that's the conclusion I've come to we are finished people.
First I will list the positives and then the negatives.
1) We have a homogeneous society with the same religion, ethnicity and language
2) We have the longest coastline in Africa which is an important maritime route with lots of resources
3) Strategically placed with high somali populations in Kenya and Ethiopia and Djibouti which should've meant we should've controlled East Africa economically and politcally with trade routes established to central Africa.
4) We have a young population with high birth rates
5) Despite the droughts we actually have nice weather not too hot or cold especially when you compare it to the khaleej countries where you can't even step outside during the day
6) Virgin untapped land with inshallah hidden resources
7) Fertile land in the south where you can even grow fruits like papaya, guava,mangoes etc in your own courtyard.
8) Lots of livestock with camels, goats and sheep you should see the Arab countries like Egypt, UAE, Khaleej etc all they eat is imported chicken from Brazil unless you're well off.
Despite all that we are the worst of the worst, the most pathetic country and have made a mockery of ourselves on the international and regional stage.
1) Despite being homogenous we are divided by tribes and that is our biggest weakness and downfall. No doubt the stray lone sheep gets eaten by the wolf.
2) The blood of a fellow Muslim is halal because of tribal conflict or fight for land.
3) The stronger tribe oppresses the weaker one instead of supporting the weak that are oppressed. Killing, stealing property and dishonouring their fellow Muslim because he's langaab.
4) No justice - Corruption, bribes ruling in favour of the stronger person in terms of tribe and wealth.
5) Rulers that are unjust who are stooges thinking of their own benefit not thinking of building a nation or a strong state for future generations...nin walba wuxu ka fikira calosheesh. But remember the ruler often reflects what the people are because if the people are good they will have good rulers but if the people are bad then a bad ruler will come from amongst them.
What is going on in our country not just the last 30 years but in the history of the Somali people is oppression upon oppression. I laugh at people who belive that Islam is the reason why Somalia is like this because in reality we follow only Islam by mouth. The reason why we are scattered all over the world, the reason why our country has no sovereignty and dignity being divided into regional states it is because our true religion isn't Islam but Tribalism we will support our unjust tribe or our enemy against our Muslim brother from another tribe or even the state because of qabyaalad.
* I'd like to add before anyone starts saying what about Alshabaab? They kill and cause injustice why didn't you mention them? Of course they are a part of the problem of why Somalia is the way it is today. For them also the blood of a Muslim is cheap and they are also a contributing factor to our situation today. However, I want to talk about the real root of our problems it is tribalism, oppression and claiming to be Muslims but acting in a way that is far removed from Islam.
How can I kill my Muslim brother, how can I steal his property, how can I take unjustly what is not mine and destroy his honour? Dadkeena waxan sahal bu u noqday laakin Wallahi when Allah says
ظَهَرَ ٱلْفَسَادُ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِى ٱلنَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى عَمِلُوا۟ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ ٤١
Corruption has spread on land and sea as a result of what people’s hands have done, so that Allah may cause them to taste ˹the consequences of˺ some of their deeds and perhaps they might return ˹to the Right Path˺.
So don't blame the West or Ethiopia or Kenya but rather we should blame ourselves and understand how divided and unjust our people have become.
