If that was the case, what would you do differently the next time around?

One could argue that, I suppose. I mean if I was in charge of an experiment were I was creating, killing and recreating the same sentient beings in an endless cycle with or without the same life choices, I think I'd think of it as torture; regardless of their knowledge of this. However, one could argue that existence with awareness (some would say with nervous system) is torture in and of itself and regardless of whether it's one-time thing or reoccurring.
