The Catholics have overthrown the Muslim family that that have guided Gabon pretty much since missionary colonial government left. The Bongo family were relatively mild in terms of corruption and authoritarianism while growing the economy many times over so hopefully the military will quickly give way to democracy. Let's also see if Islam continues to grow in Gabon or if the the students of missionary schools persecute the Muslim minority. I think there will be peaceful coexistence but I do not think the military will give up power. A benign authoritarian semidemocratic regime might be replaced by full blown junta rule
