I was wondering how we came from Nilotes/Berbers if that's even true.

Modern day somalis have two main components.
- an indigenous african element (60% of our ancestry) mixed with Eurasian dna from the middle east (40% of our ancestry).
This admixture happened over 3000 years ago so it has nothing to do with arabs. This admixture is the main reason why horn africans are black in colour but have more "caucasoid" features. Our african component is not bantu though, that's why we don't look like half white mulattos.
For somali who have the e1b1b haplogroup (majority of Somalis) our most recent common ancestor lived between 4000-5000 years ago so we are very ancient
