We seriously need to provide our populations with energy sources that obviate their need to cut down trees; we also need to plant more trees.

Climate change thing has devastated my Country with droughts and Biblical-like floods for 3 consecutive years; our mis-leaders in Juba have done absolutely nothing to help the people.

To put things into perspective, our oil money provided us with the funds to construct dikes, seawalls and levees to prevent flooding; our mi-leaders stole almost $20 billion dollars since 2005...

..And we would have needed around $2 billion to prevent or drastically reduce the occurrence and impact of flooding; we have a large swamp (the Sudd) that absorbs around 50 thousand gigalitres of water a year -- periodically causing flooding over an area of 130, 000 km2.

Why is this funny?
Because Brazil is destroying the Amazon rainforest, they cut over 10,000 acres every day. It used to be a great carbon absorber, but now it actually releases more carbon that it stores. Since Jair Bolsonaro became President, deforestation has increased.

Same thing in Somalia, people are cutting down trees for charcoal yet wondering why droughts are increasing in frequency.

Funnily enough, Somalia isn’t a signatory to this agreement.

I don’t even know if they attended this lol.
