I should have thought out my name more, made it on the spur of the moment.
Thanks adeer.I am updating the list. Gambar has perfect name for the forum. I get this image of her sitting close to her Somali Cooking stove with kids running around while she makes Canjeero/Laxoox for her family. And the screams to the kids when she needs something fetched, or when they interrupt her postings with a need of attention.
Nice way to pass time sis in Somalia's Idle days and nights..![]()
@jugjugwacwac is by far the best.
When I think of jug I think of this reer Xamar lady who once told me jug baa iga garay nooh and another lady who once said jug iga sii when I was seated next to her. There is a saying in Somali that has the word jug jug.
Jug Jug Meeshaada Joog.
There are many ways to interpret this. When people used in our covnersations, it seemed to signal the hopelessness of a situation where the efforts did not return the intended results. This leads me to think the saying explains when someone knocks onto a door and wants to come in, but people tell the person to stay where they are and not come in, so I goes: Jug Jug representing the knocks, and Meeshaada Joog talking about how that person won't get anywhere.
You can add to your ideas. This topic is free flowing, so don't confine yourself to username if you are like me random and want to say whaver comes to your mind.

I thought she wanted me to beat her up. I came across so many different accents it's hilarious how different it is.Haa, that is true. Jug iga Dheh to be exact. And you can add some more falvour and say Jug Iga Dheeh Nooh.

Wallahi you are right some accents are so hard to understand. If af Maay is spoken slow I can understand it.Words are similar but uses are different. they turned it into a phrase particular to a city or region. I understand all except af eelaay. That is another level.
And reer kismayo, guys who were born there and grew up speak some secret language they only understand, I forgot what they call it.
Af Jinni?
