Civilization names.

Other civilizations had creative names for their nations like, Egypt, Rome, Greece, Mesopotamia, Assyrian, Carthaginian, Meroë, Kush, Abyssinia, Aksum.

Is it just me or are our civilization names kinda lazy. Like, Punt (wtf), Macrobia, Ifat, Adal, Ajuuran..
Or our city states like, Zeila (Avalites), Sarapion, Mosylon, Ophir…

Most of those civilisations didn’t call themselves by those names and they would probably be confused asf if you called them those names.

Macrobia is Greek, as well as Sarapion, Mosylon, Opone and Avalites. We don’t know what the locals would have referred to those city states.

Actually, Sarapion, Mosylon, Opone, and Zeila (Avalites) is actually the hellenized form of those words. They’re native.
