Dude there is nothing wrong with mentioning clans. This is not taboo. The problem becomes when people become tribalists or emphasize clan over ethnicity and sharedness which Chunkz has never done from what I have seen. If a person start to say crazy shit that is cap or push their narrow-mindedness in fron to ajnabis, that is something else. But getting mad at someone who mentions their clan is an overreaction. Let's not become like some of the suspect Ethiopians who hide their background.
Treating clan like it's a taboo is another extreme altogether. Don't be a tribalist, but don't be a guy who is highly insecure about the topic of tribe. Treat it like it is, but don't take it further and make it about lineage and history and what it means if one goes there (but don't go into the 'my clan is exeptional' narrative, 'they're the bad guys'), because it can neatly complement Somali culture since it is a central part of Somali tradition, whether you like it or not.
Post-clan ideology is a culture that cannot handle nuance and take care of delicate complexity. You will not find refinement in that, aking to Communism that stripped people of values and took things to the extreme to "unify" people from "distractions." I find no wisdom in that.
