It's due to history. Throughout much of history, Armenia and Iran have been allies against Muslim caliphates/empires (Abbasid, Ottoman, etc). For instance, during the siege of Mongols against the Abbasid Caliphate, Armenia and Iran provided tens thousands of infantry, cavalries, etc.
