You raise a good point on the advantage Washington has with its global economic and military alliances.

The West essentially has a racial based alliance in all but name; NATO accounts for 70% of global military spending and its doctrine, training, logistics and experience far outpace that of China; also (as you pointed out) the United States essentially has Satraps in Asia -- further enhancing its already considerable advantages.

I can't see China eclipsing the combined wealth and power of the United States, the EU, Japan, Canada, Australia and South Korea.

If China does in fact achieve parity with the United States in superconductors, AI, bio-engineering and other strategic industries in the next 30 years... then it could conceivably proceed without being bothered by sanctions when it actually gets in the position to have 'designer babies'.
