China's been declining for 200 years. The country’s share of the world’s population, which declined from 37% in 1820 to 22% in 1950-80, will fall to 11% in 2050 and 4% by 2100.

My favourite stat demographically is that Poland & Ukraine individually had more people than Pakistan 90 years ago. Pakistan now has more than 3x the combined population & 10x the combined births of Ukraine & Poland.

Differential fertility is no joke. China would be much better off in the long run if they focused on delaying demographic transition as long as possible in the 70s/80s. That's the secret to maximise long term national power.

They predicted this which is why they're trying to move away from cheap manufacturing and into specialized areas. Their population is highly educated nowadays, probably some of the smartest work force in the world

I mean even if they doubled their per capita income over 20-30 years they'd still be declining relatively imo. 1820's China was literally 4/10 of humanity and had so much prestige and soft power that Korea, Japan, Thailand & Vietnam used to pay tribute to them and actively say "We wuz China" like Euros claim Rome.

Today who associates Chinese culture with prestige? The Vietnamese use Latin due to hatred of China, Korea&Thailand is an American cumbucket, and China will have to fight other Han in Taiwan. It's still decline no matter what the CCP does from here IMO.

That point about "quality over quantity" can't be stressed enough. India's 1.4 billion citizens have a 3.5 billion dollar economy while China's 1.4 billion citizens have a 17 billion dollar economy in terms of GDP. The difference is like night and day in terms of per Capita income and quality of life in these two countries.
That is why pajeets don't even have adequate functioning sewerage or toilets in their cities.
