Chilling theory as to why Somaliland isn't recognised?

Nope, the reason why SL isn't independant is because it's a giant shanty town which produces nothing significant and relies heavily on aid. It also has the beutiful touch of declaring death as the punishment for any Muslim who leaves Islam in its constitution, thus it's no suprise people arent jumping at the idea of a improverished islamofascist clan enclave.

@codewebsduh I'm sorry everything you said is waffle or exaggeration. SL is a moderate Muslim country that has a lot of kudos in the democratic West for being the only democracy in the volatile Horn. As for development we are not poorer than either Djibouti or any part of neighbouring Somalia except the heavily funded Banadir

Ethiopians can barely handle oromos and tigray its on the verge of total collapse and civil war how on earth do you think they can annex Somalia?

Secondly the reason SL is not recognised is because of Puntland. African union literally stated "we are not recognising Somaliland because we fear this will open pandoras box and spark other secessionist movements (referring to PL and JL) and we're committed to seeing a unified reconciled Somalia". In other words, in a world were PL and other autonomous states did not exist, SL would be recognised by now. We permanently fucked their chance of recognition. Thats the reason

@Yonis so you just outed yourself as a secessionist? Interesting although unlike Somaliland no part of ex Italian Somalia was ever an independent country ever

African Union in 2005 said Somaliland has a legitimate case to be independent
