Does anyone have tips on how to get better at chess? I've taken it up again after a long time but can't leave the 250 elo mark

I havn't played it in a long time but when i was into it i got to like 1200 elo, its really just mostly a memorising thing especially openings

Try to find threats to your king and your opponent's king.

Don't leave your pieces unguarded.

Play slower games. If you play <10min, then you won't have enough time to think and you'll keep making the same mistakes.

Try to limit your mistakes. I know it sounds obvious but it goes back to playing slowly and paying attention to all your pieces, your king and your opponent's. At lower levels people make more mistakes and you just have to wait for it and take advantage.
