There is a Somali politician in Hargeisa that has lions as pets. Arrest him or report him to powerful NGO's. His name is Warancadde

Why would he be arrested when he reared the lions and took care of them? If this was Gaas you'd be parading with it. :wtfdis:

Warancadde's zoo is lit, caracels, ostriches, this nicca got a lot of animals, I don't see the logic of arresting him for it.

There have been incidents of his lions injuring locals. He was even asked by a reporter and he laughed it off.

One of his lions killed a girl in 2012 I believe, he put it down, no one in hargeisa is calling for his arrest, those animals would've been in more danger at the mercy of geeljires wielding ak 47s.

He reared them brehh, he even gave a cub as a gift to the president of Djibouti, what the hell is a ngo going to do to a man who takes care of the animals of his land. Some straight up dhoocilite movements. :wtfdis:

His lions kill a girl and he kills the lion, that's it? In a civilised world he wouldn't see day light. Stop making excuses like the dude raised you, ma aabo la aan baa tahay? :draketf:

*Ma aabo la'aan ba ku haya*

The family got their justice he paid the diya money, listen man, if your abti had a lit zoo filled with iconic somali animals you wouldn't be calling for NGO's to lock his ass up, there's something else underlying here. Jealousy.

Warancadde understands lions probably better than most Somalis due to him being around them from cub to grown, he locks them up when they begin to grow a mane as he says at that age they are very aggressive and territorial.

I hope he returns them into the wild where they belong, problem is there are factors like the nomadic communities and how they'd receive this.

You're bragging about someone else's property as if it's yours, is deji sxb. His lions look malnutritioned.

You just proved your command over the Somali language is laughable, kibirka waa lagu kufa :icon e wink:

Ma Aabo la'aan ba tahay is a disgrace of Somali grammar,

Cunto la'aan baa ii haya
Biyo la'aan ba ii haya

Now look at how stupid this sounds
Aabo la'aan baan ahay
Hooyo la'aan baad tahay

Wtf

You can't be something ____la'aan,
La'aan is like inu wax kaaga dhiman,
You can't be La'aan you can't say do you have something La'aan, it is wax la'aan baa ku qabsaday ama aabo la'aanta ha noqdo ama Cunto la'aanta, but to say 'aabo la' aan baad tahay is incorrect.

You shoulda said ma garac baad tahay, either this is a case of dialectical differences, or you're downright incorrect. :fittytousand:

If I'm incorrect then it only has to do with the haya/haysaa particle, the rest is correct.

The thing is that he gets animals that are endangered or protected by law, so it's illegal to have them. He keeps them in horrible cages or lets them out, which is a danger for the community. And any lion or other predators born in captivity would not be able to survive in the wild, so they are destined to live in those cages and keep breeding them for nothing.

How did they end up in ceel sheekh? Were they moved there or?

I've heard that there are cheetah cubs at Rays Hotel in Borama atm. They are owned by a minister I think.
They were probably taken from Ethiopia and smuggled so they could be sent to Yemen. There were four different litters.

@PTcheetah Are you with the Cheetah Conservation org? If so, how big of a number do you think are in Somaliland? Great work btw, one last question, what are your end goals regarding these Cheetah cubs?

Yes, I work for the Cheetah Conservation Fund. We are trying to do a cheetah survey in Somaliland. We know there are cheetahs there, but we don't know how many. Most of the cheetahs we have helped to confiscate came from Ethiopia.

Regarding these cubs, we will take care of them until we can transfer them to a real sanctuary. They can't go back to the wild. They were orphaned at too young an age. Thanks for asking!

You mentioned Warancade is powerful but he's not a minister anymore and I have been to his Zoo, it's a terrible place, those caged animals deserve better. Anything we can do to stop him? What do you think if we petition the Somaliland govt to provide a land for a decent Zoo? Maybe even just outside the city?

They have the land, the problem is that we need to get the money to build.

He is still powerful, apparently. I think it would help if people complained to the Ministry of Environment.
