They usually get killed once they pass a certain age. You only see cubs in Instagram pictures. You wonder what happened to the cute adult ones.

How did they end up in ceel sheekh? Were they moved there or?

I've heard that there are cheetah cubs at Rays Hotel in Borama atm. They are owned by a minister I think.

Taking animals from the wild, and buying or selling them is illegal. Besides, it is cruel to take them away from their mothers. Most of the cheetahs taken from the wild end up dying. These cubs on the picture are the only survivors of 10 that were confiscated.

And they don't have a better life in the Gulf either. They are not given the right care. Most cheetahs there also end up dying because of poor nutrition and disease. I know a guy in Dubai that gives his animals salt water, which causes dementia. Wild animals belong in the wild and people should not tolerate this illegal trade.

How do you keep cheetahs as pets? Accudubillahi :kanyehmm:
The best reply I can give you is: don't. They belong in the wild and it is illegal to keep them. Illegal wildlife trade is a very big problem for communities as most of the times it helps finance other trafficking like weapons and drugs.

What they don't talk about is the number of people that get injured or killed because of these wild pets.

There is a Somali politician in Hargeisa that has lions as pets. Arrest him or report him to powerful NGO's. His name is Warancadde

Animal welfare is not a priority in a state that can't even secure it's own people welfare. :kanyehmm:

Any society can be judged by how it treats its weakest members. What does it say about us? :hmm:

Ceel Sheikh, who saved them from being sold?
The Minister of Environment made the decision to confiscate them and call my NGO to pick them up and take care of them. There were 9 in Ceel Sheikh and one in Wajale. Only four survive. The others were very sick because usually the smugglers don't take good care of them.

We have reported him, but he's much too powerful. The problem is he is breeding those lions, and doesn't keep them safely.
