Yeah the way it sounds is different but its very similar to af soomali, af soomali is more influenced by arabic thats probably the biggest difference

Also remember they have many dialect of oromo depending on the people they assimilated

Yeah that was my point. Sure they have lots of common words with Somali, but my point was their pronunciation and way of speaking is completely different to Somali.

the difference is like night and day.

They sound the same as other Ethiopia languages to me, like Amharic. I’m guessing those languages have influenced each other for so long that they now both sound somewhat similar.
