Fun etymological fact about feminism: a dude coined the term.*

In 1837, radical French philosopher Charles Fourier invented feminisme in writing about the indelible link between women's status and social progress ("Liberty, unless enjoyed by all, is unreal and illusory. . ." he wrote). But a true feminist Fourier was not. Though he thought 19th-century women were treated like chattel, he stopped short of rallying for complete gender equality since it didn't jive with sex differences he observed (NB: gender equality and sex differences can -- and should -- coexist beautifully).

Nor was feminisme the crux of Fourier's philosophizing. He was all about conceptualizing an agrarian, utopian society based upon a communal network of co-ops he called phalanxes (or phalanges, as in the same word referring to the bones in your hands and feet). By working together under a socialist system, Fourier envisioned "an amount of wealth tenfold greater than the present" and thus "elegance and luxury will be had by all."

And while some Fouriersm followers attempted their own phalanx-based societies, his utopian dreams would ultimately be crushed by the unstoppable forces of industrialization, which Fourier had considered a passing fancy -- unlike, ironically, feminisme.

*In September 1896, Eugenie Potonie-Pierre also claimed to have coined feminisme. It was during the 1890s that "feminism" in the sense of women-led activism for equality became a common term, migrating from France and entering the English language as early as October 1894 in a London newspaper article.

While working as a clerk in Lyon, Fourier wrote his first major work, Théorie des quatre mouvements et des destinées générales (1808; The Social Destiny of Man; or, Theory of the Four Movements, 1857). He argued that a natural social order exists corresponding to Newton’s ordering of the physical universe and that both evolved in eight ascending periods. In harmony, the highest stage, man’s emotions would be freely expressed. That stage could be created, he contended, by dividing society into phalanges.

The phalange, in Fourier’s conception, was to be a cooperativeagricultural community bearing responsibility for the social welfare of the individual, characterized by continual shifting of roles among its members. He felt that phalanges would distribute wealth more equitably than under capitalism and that they could be introduced into any political system, including a monarchy. The individual member of a phalange was to be rewarded on the basis of the total productivity of the phalange.

After inheriting his mother’s estate in 1812, Fourier was able to devote himself exclusively to writing and refined his theories in Traité de l’association agricole domestique(1822; “Treatise on Domestic Agricultural Association”) and Le Nouveau Monde industriel (1829–30; “The New Industrial World”). His emphasis on adapting society to human needs and on the wastefulness of the competitive capitalist system foreshadowed the ideas of Karl Marx.

Cooperative settlements based on Fourier’s ideas were started in France and especially the U.S., among which the best known were the short-lived Brook Farm in Massachusetts (1841–46) and the North American Phalanx at Red Bank, New Jersey.

Tavistock Institute Pens Global Conspiracy Script

by HENRY MAKOW, PhD

Like a cat toying with a mouse, the elite teases us with fleeting glimpses of our true predicament. One such peek was the 1998 movie "The Truman Show" directed by Peter Weir.

Truman Burbank, played by Jim Carrey, is unaware his life is a live reality TV show. Everyone, including his wife, is an actor, and everything that happens is staged. In other words, his life is a fraud. Truman Burbank's predicament describes our own.

According to John Coleman, the elite has been writing and directing the script for almost hundred years at the "Tavistock Institute of Human Relations" based in London.
(Coleman http://www.greatdreams.com/coleman.html)

John Coleman, 71, a former British Intelligence officer (MI-6), first exposed the clique that dominates the world is his "Conspirator's Hierarchy: The Story of the Committee of 300."(1992)

His latest book is a rambling cry of anguish: "The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations: Shaping the Moral, Spiritual, Cultural, Political and Economic Decline of the United States of America.

" (2005)

The book is confirmation that a financial elite engineered every war and depression in modern history and continues to condition our beliefs and behavior.

According to Coleman, Tavistock began life before WWI to convince peace-loving populations of the need to massacre each other.

"Those fresh-faced young American boys from Arkansas and North Carolina were sent marching off to Europe believing they were "fighting for their country" never knowing that the "democracy" [Woodrow] Wilson sent them to "make the world safe for" was a Socialist-International One World Government dictatorship." (42)

Funded by the royal family, the Rockefellers and the Rothschilds, Tavistock pioneered the techniques of propaganda used to justify war.

Outright lies about German atrocities in WWI resonate down through the decades to lies about Sadaam Hussein's gassing Kurds and killing babies in Kuwait. Of course the biggest lie of all is that Muslims had anything to do with Sept. 11.

("Biggest lie of all" http://www.policestateplanning.com/loose_change_ii.htm)

Coleman found that 94% of the key words and phases developed by Tavistock for WWII use "matched up with those used in the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War." (153)

Coleman's main point is we can't trust anything the mass media or government tells us, especially not the "news."

He cites Stalin's propaganda chief Willy Munzenberg: "All news is lies and all propaganda is disguised as news."

This applies to the West today.

Coleman says society is rotten with institutions and organizations directed by Tavistock to deceive and distort.

They are called "elite" institutions because of whom they serve.

The conspiracy reaches right down to the local level.

According to Coleman, Tavistock has an "invisible army" of actors found "today in the halls of justice, police, churches, school boards, sports bodies, newspapers, TV...town councils, state legislatures, and are legion in Washington. They run for every office..."

Virtually every important corporation, university, think tank or foundation is linked to Tavistock. (See "Conspirators' Hierarchy" pp. 221-253 for a list.)

It chooses the entertainers we watch, the pundits we listen to; the politicians we elect. Every US President since Theodore Roosevelt has been under its control. They made examples of rebels like JFK and Richard Nixon.

Tavistock is behind every "spontaneous" social movement of the last century, including feminism, sexual "liberation", the peace movement, the "New Age" movement, environmentalism, homosexuality, and abortion.

"The moral, spiritual, racial, economic, cultural and intellectual bankruptcy we are in the midst of today is not some social phenomenon...that just happened. Rather it is the product of a carefully planned Tavistock program," Coleman writes.

We are constantly studied to see how we will react under stress.

Orson Well's Martian invasion in 1938 was designed to demonstrate the power of the "news" to deceive.

Coleman doesn't mention it but the power blackout in the Northeast was probably another study of mass behavior. So was New Orleans.

Confident of our sedated sheep-like behavior, Coleman says Tavistock went ahead and massacred David Koresh and his followers at Waco after lying about his activities. (240).

Tavistock follows Sun Tsu's maxim of "Kill a few; terrorize many."

Coleman calls Winston Churchill's decision to bomb German civilians "a war crime." Dresden was "an outright attack on Christianity, timed to take place during Lent," he says. (188)

According to Coleman, Tavistock is waging war on the Muslim world because Islam represents an obstacle to its control. (151)

He claims Russia and China still have a measure of independence.

CONCLUSIONS

We are in this jam because a small group of dynastic families have amassed unlimited wealth by usurping the government's money-creation role.

To maintain this unjust advantage, they need to create a "world government" dictatorship in the name of "globalism."

This supranational elite is colonizing every country, including the UK, the USA and Israel.

As in any colonial situation, our political and cultural elites are chosen by their willingness to collaborate with the occupying power.

Most people will do whatever it takes to be "successful". Many actually think they are free citizens creating a better world.

Like the two Jewish professors who criticized the Israel Lobby recently, they discover the reality when they stray from the script.

The public is constantly under psychological attack. Turn on the news and we see 9-11 cover-up accomplice Rudolph Giuliani shedding crocodile tears with victims' families at patsie Zacharias Moussaoui's trial.

Al-Quaeda hijacker Mohammed Atta "mistakenly keyed the air traffic control microphone instead of the cabin intercom" and is heard by the court talking to the frightened passengers! Sure.

(trial http://asia.news.yahoo.com/060407/afp/060407052535int.html)

Meanwhile, the bird flu is coming to get us.

Someone is burning black churches.

Illegal aliens are flooding the country (despite the "heightened security" mandated by the "war on terror.") Jesus asked Judas to betray him. It goes on and on.

People find the Illuminati to be an abstract and elusive enemy.

Look no further than your television, your iPod, your radio, movie or newspaper.

Coleman says 450 of the Fortune 500 companies get their marching orders from Tavistock.

This may explain why TV commercials seem more concerned with social engineering than with selling a product.

I saw this gem recently. A little boy besieges a little girl with gifts. Each time she rejects him. Finally she accepts a vase full of flowers but slams the door in his face. She dumps the flowers in the garbage and uses the vase to gulp McCain's Kool-Aid.

Is this the cultural message to send to children? They are messing people up so we are too divided and dysfunctional to resist them.

Like Truman Burbank, more and more people are recognizing the plot.

They are testing the elite's story line and finding it mendacious and perverse.

They are walking off the stage to seek an authentic life.

Abstract
This paper explores Freud’s reflection on telepathy, a reflection generally dismissed as a marginal or even slightly embarrassing aspect of his writings. Ernst Jones’s influential Life and Work of Sigmund Freud exemplifies best this marginalization as it rigorously examines Freud’s consideration of telepathy but frames it as a paradoxical feature of the latter’s character or as proof of the difficulty, even for men of genius, to overcome irrational superstitions. The paper offers a historical perspective on the conflict between Freud’s intellectual engagement with telepathy and the scientific community’s rejection of occult beliefs generally associated with the spiritualist movement of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The author argues that the treatment of Freud’s reflection on telepathy as a result of superstition not only fails to recognize the caution he undertook within his inquiry into the occult but also omits the important questions that motivated his investigations. Ultimately, Freud’s probes into the possibilities of certain occult phenomena such as telepathy had less to do with superstitions than with a critical examination of the limits of communication as they demonstrated the need within psychoanalysis to reevaluate certain unexplained transmissions of meaning.

If sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, as Sigmund Freud allegedly once asserted, then could the name of an influential psychoanalytic society just be a name?

Now vee may perhaps to find out.

On Friday, the New York Freudian Society—a not-for-profit organization that, along with its companion training institute, is among a handful of New York analytic organizations that belong to the prestigious International Psychoanalytic Association—officially changed its name to the Contemporary Freudian Society. It’s a shift that’s been in the works since 2009, but it’s actually been on members’ minds for much longer.

Psychoanalysis, like all other disciplines, has evolved—theoretically and demographically. Almost no one subscribes any longer to Freud’s theories of female development and sexuality, and it’s rare to find an analyst who rigidly subscribes to his decrees about technique. Freud’s basic ideas—that we’re influenced by our unconscious conflicts and desires; that childhood experiences shape adult character—remain the bulwark of psychoanalysis, but, like Charles Darwin’s, they’ve been updated. Freud himself incorporated new discoveries over decades of his life that, in some cases, overturned his own initial understandings. And many other theorists—Melanie Klein, Karl Abraham, Donald Winnicott, Hans Loewald—followed, adding to and even revising Freudian theory.

“The somewhat authoritarian view of early work which was part of Freudian thinking—I don’t think this is there at all anymore, because it doesn’t work in today’s world,” said Dr. Edwin Levy, who has been an analyst for decades and joined the Society in the 1980s.

Levy and his colleagues came up with a name they believe will work better in today’s world—but, as in everything in life, what they took out may say as much about the group’s identity as what they chose to retain.

Analytic work is about self-perception and self-understanding, and so it is perhaps no surprise that this decision was made with a great deal of introspection. About eight years ago, a new name was first proposed, but it didn’t pass a two-thirds majority of voting members. This ended discussion until the fall of 2009, when, at an annual brainstorming retreat, the board voted unanimously in favor of considering a new name. The point was to communicate all of the changes the Society has undergone—in theory, in practice, and in demographics—to potential patients and candidates, as well as to the analysts themselves.

Every Disney villainess was a feminist hag. That practised the dark arts. He has a point. Cruella just looked like a two-minded she-devil, so she's the only exception to the rule. Then again, in her day cigarettes were torches of freedom (not cancer sticks). :farmajoyaab:

When spiritualism dawned, suddenly women who wanted to engage in the civic and religious and political culture were becoming transmediums. It is no accident that in this “burned over” district of upstate New York, you had the birth of spiritualism coinciding with the fist conference for women’s voting rights. The two were branches coming out of the same tree for about a generation in the 19th Century, you could not find a voting rights activist, a suffragist activist, who hadn’t spent some time at the séance table, and vice versa. The movements just absolutely grew out of one another.

Once that social and spiritual opening was created for women in the form of spiritualism, suddenly ambitious women who wanted to participate in the culture had a kind of a voice. So this began a marriage between occult spirituality and reformist or radical politics that just roared through the country, and really, has never gone away.

So, the 1840s, some historians call that decade “The Mad 40s,” the 1840s was the pivotal moment in American life where an avant-garde spiritual culture began to grow and where a radical and reformist political culture began to grow.

This was also bound up with ideologies that were coming over to America from Europe. Chief among them was the method called mesmerism, which we today call hypnotism. Americans were in love with mesmerism because it was something that you could do in your own home. You could mesmerize or hypnotize your aunt or your mother or your father and people would go into these trance states and you could introduction autosuggestions tot hem or as some people saw it, you could cure them of illnesses. And sometimes people would emerge, re-emerge from a trance state and report that they had some kind of out of body experience. They had traveled to other realms or to other planets, or to the heavens.

So all of these occult ideologies, all these supernatural ideologies where people said they were in touch with the world beyond, they could see either into other realms or into the future or they could serve as a spirit channeler, they were confirming a very, very deep-seated hope that Americans had about themselves and they served as a conduit for radically liberal religious and political ideas.
