Most skyscrapers were built by Chinese companies, and are practically empty, tallest one is the ethiopian state owned bank building

When you put all the details and practicality aside this is truly beautiful

That is precisely why Abiy is so hated in Ethiopia. He has invested so much in the capital but hardly anything in rural areas, which is why groups such as FANO and OLA are flourishing outside the capital. Places in the Oromia and Amhara regions look like the fourth world, while the capital looks like Dubai.

I mean for a nation of 100 million people, id expect some streets to not be dirt and trash. Addis is going to be the site of major wars and civil unrest. It won't last. Thats not me being hateful or a doomer but the reality is, it's being claimed by everyone.

with most of its buildings being built by chinamen, its probably going to have to sell off state owned assets to pay it back. China will soon own half of Ethiopia if this continues

Agree but a capital city is the face of a country, it must be beautified

Yeah every comment section on r/Ethiopia is some Oromo saying its part of Oromia and others disagreeing

While be a sad day when these conflicts reach the capital

If ethiopia wasn't a mountainous country with no navigable rivers. They honestly would have given rise to multiple massive empires. Even conquering most of the Arabian peninsula wouldn't have been impossible

How much does the rebel groups control in Ethiopia?
Barely anything tbh, Fano was doing good in 2024 but for some reason now they stopped advancing, thing is they're not united under one leader its multiple factions and sometimes they disagree and fight between each others, Tigray is just trying to rebuild right now

Thats true but he has neglected the rural side so much, and thats where majority of the people live
Well theres nothing to develop in ethiopian tuulos, if the life in the city was actually good and promising people would move to the cities but thats not the case

Thats why they have the lowest urbanisation % in the horn, theres no opportunities in Addis for the average ethiopian, they're better off in their villages than there

But as I said when you put all this aside addis looks nice, would not want to live there tho

They control 80% of amhara, their fighting in wollega in oromia right now. For tigray it would be hard to know as 40% of the region is controlled oppositional forces (fano? or others not really sure) so about 30-60% is controlled by the actual government of ethiopia.

Lmao thats not true

Fano doesnt control any of the big cities and theyre not even close to controlling 50% of amhara

Also Tigray isnt some region where Abiy forces are fighting tigrayans, Ethiopia is a federal state Tigray is its own state and they have big problems to fix in their own state like widespread poverty, food insecurity and crime

Abiy controls most of the country, its not like somalia where you have independent fully functioning states opposing the fed gov

When you search Addis Ababa online you see this, and when you search Mogadishu online you see pictures of buildings destroyed and war etc
True, which is why you should google "Xamar" instead of "Mogadishu" which is where you will see the city look more normal.

Those Google mfkers straight up still showing photos from the 90s and 2000s, its gonna take forever for that city's PR to change.

:snoop:
