Can't believe 30+ years and this godforsaken hellhole of a country left an entire region isolated.

Thanks to all those that donated, we're sending a new batch of donations in the coming months to complete phase 1 Ceeldaahir-Badhan-Hadaaftimo

They paved 20 miles which is from Ceel Daahir to Cawsane. The condition is obviously top quality but there's 35 miles left to reach Badhan. Lets brainstorm ideas for funding.

Puntland should have all of its gov workers sit for a fake β€œcivil service exam” which is actually an IQ test and then fire the bottom 50%. You can let them stay on the job for another nine months while they figure things out.

We are spending too much money on salaries.

What about reforming the security sector? I read that during Gaas term, they numbered the forces around 8000-9000 and he wanted to cut a third but the Daraawiish commander opposed the move.

Mashallah!

Who funded it? And how did they manage to build a road that long in the most mountainous region in the Somali peninsula.

I'm not sure about the security sector.

What I know is that Puntland spent ~$1.4 mil on the Ceel Daahir road last year. Almost all of the funding at this point is coming from the people of Sanaag and from donations.

This is an absurd amount to spend if you want to get the road completed this century.
Too much corruption and rent seeking happening in Deni's administration.

Well. If this is true, then it explains why.

Rumour has it that the wadaads in Puntland take 30% tax off projects they have a hand in, including the Ceeldaahir-Ceerigaabo road. If this is true, 30% is a lot of money, it's isbaaro!!

Its not mountainous though we have a few togs so we need to build multiple bridges.

It was funded by the community, diaspora and PL government

Deni promised it will reach Badhan by the end of the year, we let the government have it. Yes there's major corruption with the gudi for the road but their quality work makes up for it.
