What’s city in North America can even compare to a Chinese one in terms of infrastructure?
Visited Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Xi'an, and Beijing.
Infrastructure-wise, the tier ones like the ones above have better infrastructure than any city in North America. It's not even close. I was able to go from the Chengdu airport (50 km away from the city) to my hotel for 8 RMB (1 USD) via their metro. These cities are first-world level.
Old people in China can be hit or miss, but the young are very friendly and will come up to you to talk, they usually don't speak any English.
A good example of the difference between Chinese infrastructure and North American infrastructure is this:
