Canada

How is life in Canada?
I have a couple of questions
1. How's the job market, is it easy to find job
2. Does salary and cost of living match?
3. How are the taxes, give some examples
And lastly how's the weather? Is it as depressing as in northern Europe?

@The Smooth-Operator , Idk what to say about the job market as I am still in school myself. Most educated somalis are doing great here but my cousin showed me a twitter post yesterday of how racism is a problem when it comes to hiring in Canada albeit lowkey.

Just go to major cities which have diverse population and you'll be good. 🙃

1- the job market is great, you can find decent job with good salary. Obviously, this depends on your skill and education level.
2-cost of living is quite affordable, if you stay away from big cities like Toronto
3-the taxes are ok, higher income means higher tax. We have universal healthcare, so expect more taxes than the us. Weather is very cold winters and warm summers with fall in between.

Racism is a big issue everywhere especially here in Europe unfortunately.

1. Job market is decent however most jobs are in Toronto/Vancouver, salaries are indeed higher in the US though
2. No. It's a mixed bag. If you live in Toronto/Vancouver, then you need like 70k after tax to live comfortable. On the flip side, if you live in a 2nd tier city like Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, cost of living is much lower and your money will go further.
3. Taxes are very rough, but that's the cost of living in a socialist country. 50k is about a 22% tax rate, 80k is about a 25% tax rate, 100k is 28%, 200k is 37% meaning you will lose 72k and only bring home 128k. It's absolutely rough.
4. Weather sucks ass. The only place with manageable weather is vancouver, if you think 3 degrees Celsius during the winter is decent.

Just go to the US man. I plan on leaving Canada, this place sucks.

taxes are higher, weather is bad, salaries are lower, houses are expensive. It is terrible.

Depends what industry you’re in, but if you want a lower cost of living move to Manitoba or Alberta. Weather is very nice, we have hot summers but also very cold winters (though global warming is changing that). If recent migrants can make a living, anyone can. Harbourfront in Toronto is amazing during the summer. Took my son there and he wasn’t acting wild for once.
