In our country each child receives a certain amount every year until they reach 18.

• $6,400 per year ($533.33 per month) for each eligible child under the age of six
• $5,400 per year ($450.00 per month) for each eligible child aged 6 to 17

I think the purpose of the money isn't to fund the child's future college enrollment, but to put clothes on it's back and food in it's mouth.
