I don't even think it's logistically possible for any Somali militia to take Jilib/Middle Juba. Barely any roads and the terrain is favorable for insurgents. You'll need Ethiopia for this, and Ethiopia is imploding internally, they'd never commit the resources to it

But if Jilib isn't retaken, AS won't ever be defeated since the Juba Valley is where all their leaders live.

Middle Jubba is going to be their base for the next decade.

It’ll be the last place that sees any operation as it’s too diverse with many clans benefiting from Shabaab rule and like you said the terrain is harsh for any troops to hold.

The place I see easiest to fight Shabaab are in Galgaduud and Hiraan. Very flat lands. Maybe expanding this to Shabellaha. This government will focus on that and claim success.
