Can Somalis Only Be Civilized By Military Leaders? Muse Bixi is a Perfect Example

I feel Somalis need a strong charismatic leader who is militaristic or has military experience. They need to be karbashed into progress.

As stated in the title, Muse Bixi has achieved more than any other Somaliland president has in a short time. No matter how you feel about him or SL you cannot ignore what he's done. He's pretty much forced the West to acknowledge SL's existence indirectly through the use of lobbying, inviting foreigner to invest, the establishment of ties with Taiwan and recognition from TW and the SL has began the process of Oil/Gas and Mineral extraction.

I can't see all this being achieved under the leadership of someone like Faysal Ali Warabe or Cirro.

Muse Bixi would not have ”succeeded” without the groundwork laid by earlier governments of SL who were rather democratic and stabilised the region. The government in Xamar is going through a similar process at the moment, albeit very slowly.

In my opinion we need to emulate Kenya where opposing ethnic groups share power and presidency rotates. We could substitute clans for the ethnic groups. Difference is, the 4 major clan groups can’t dominate each other so unfortunately only 0.5 will be harmed.

This powersharing is already implemented in Somalia but very inefficiently. It doesn’t work, because the government is not present throughout the country and it does not fund itself. When these two core issues are fixed, we should implement this system.

Here's the cold, hard truth... no heroes, messiahs or Angels are coming; a change in the philosophy and principles of the culture is the only way a Nation can guarantee substantive and stable growth.

You are right, but all of this has to start at the top

The cooperation of thousands of technically educated Somalis would constitute the top in that scenario; these people could greatly transform the Nation with reforms in the political and economic architecture of the Nation over a 30 year period.

Somalis dont need another Military leader, we saw that with kacaan, Somalis need someone who brings development and knows how the world works outside there country and runs like a business man. Military leaders always have a narrow view of the world and will most likely will be expansionists.

These “benevolent dictators“ are a trap. Look at China where Xi has consolidated power because he’s perceived to be visionary, same with Putin. But once they become a bit oppressive then no one can stop them because they’v become too powerful to be deposed.

Democracy is always the best option.

Lee Kuan Yew was autocratic but also very pro-capitalist which worked, but i doubt that Muuse knows about capitalist ideology of market economy.

A lot of people here perceive democracy as ‘un-Islamic’ when in reality, that’s the opposite of the truth. I hope Capitalism in democracy become ascendant in Africa as I believe it’s the only way to lift our heads up from this sea of Corruption

Unfortunately they think capitalism out to let business do whatever it wants and forget that it only works if there’s a truly free market.

We have monopolies that are not regulated and even carry out hits on their competitors

Although I’d admit it’s very hard to have a free market in a country like Somalia where the government isn’t the only entity taxing the citizens. Somalia has bigger problems to tackle, but I still hope for a post-civil war capitalist somalia that can be a good trading partner to the world. Or maybe we should stay
competing with each other like we see with
Berbera vs Bosaso vs Hobyo.

You talk about Moses as if he did a Somaliland miracle. Somaliland is like any other miserable Somali region
Even worse, that is why you find most people who cross the sea and the desert to Libya from Somaliland
