this wiki site summarizes some hydrology studies of somalia but we have huge land and no lakes and only 2 consistent rivers. Most of country relies on underground water which is limited and some areas not even that good because of salt. I would say no we dont have alot of water but opposite its very scarce

Most of the ground water haven’t been accessible due to the lack of propper drilling tools. The only ones that are currently being depleted are the surface wells which given our land mass leaves us with plenty to explore.

The Re-greening of Somalia would require us to actually build up the necessary energy infrastructure to allow for desalination and use the water resources to restore some of the grass lands. We might not have the tree density of other nations but we have plenty and any video of Somalia would showcase that. We’ve depleted our shrubs and grass due to over grazing and I’m sure that’s what’s negatively affecting our soil.

The 1 annotation is saying actual forest is 2,5000,000. This would make forest cover in somalia 3.92% of the total land area.

actual forest = land that has dense or true forest cover, not just sparse vegetation or scrubland

True forest looks like this. Probably what most of us accustomed to in west and why people get confused by term forest and its different meanings

then you have places like this. which fall under generic forest term but arent actual forest. but scrubland and such

Its also somewhat confusing what difference between shrub and tree . the acacai which is very common in somalia can be shrub or tree

Some picture of Congo tree after being cut. Look at how huge these trees are and how dense there forests are. Thats why the areas of forest can be so misleading to me

They have the GOAT river of all rivers. The Congo river is massive and very strong 80x than the Nile and way deeper.

Somalia can't have trees like these because the environment (Ethiopian highlands) doesn't allow.

See this video about Why there is a desert in Somalia. You will see that all the moisture goes to north Western Ethiopia.

Very good video . It’s bad luck with those mountains everywhere else almost on equator lush rain forest . Rain shadow effect maybe one day technology will circumvent it or way to seed clouds come about. But we also way better off than arab gulf states someone always got it worse

Or, just build pipeline from the congo river all the way to Somalia.
