I can’t find the source anymore but I read that a lot of Somali Bantus were leaving to Tanzania through UN refugee scheme but was stopped eventually. UN started just building all camps within Somalia and buying up land so that there was no need for anyone to leave.
Unfortunately now we have massive IDP camps right next to our major cities. This is a significant security risk and a blight on the hospitality and beauty of our suburbs
A lot of mushunguli were taken to Tanzania and Mozambique and a plan was made to send the rest of them. It was under the pretext of being “threatened minorities” and was a UN refugee scheme. End result was just most ended up in Kenya and a handful to the US
