The fact that this MOU has come to fruition, clearly signifies the upwards trajectory that Somalia is heading to. I’m both amused and happy that this MOU will be “enacted”.
1) It clearly shows that Somalia is slowly but surely, exiting its “failed state” persona. Which is a national security threat to above countries.
2) Ethiopia and to a certain extent Kenya, have had free reign in Somalia for over 30 years, over a decade of that period “fighting” AS, which has been a massive failure on their part as they are still here (unfortunately).
3) This MOU is been used as a pretext to stay in Somalia, not for the sake of the Somali people or to help them defeat the vermin AS, but to make sure that the country stays in its current predicament. Both countries for decades have had this exact foreign policy when it comes to Somalia.
4) Funding has dried up, both countries are in a server economical crisis at the moment, and it turns out will not be able to fund their “mission”. I argue that this “MOU” is a ploy to convince the powers that be to continue to support their mission, which I highly doubt will happen.
5) With both Ethiopia and Kenya experiencing their own economical and political / civil unrest. This MOU is a mere distraction from their own internal struggles, like many before it, it will not come to pass.
