This is not the first of such occurrence last year the Security minister was wounded after the previous Police Commander and the Commander of the riot Police fired shots at each other.

The governer, Omar Abdullahi Faroole, who is former President Faroole's nephew (and was once his bodyguard/goon) was allegedly shot at by the Puntland Police chief Abdulkador Ereg, but the bullet aimed at his head missed and instead hit another official in the leg. ( I guess they were playing Twister in order for one to aim for one's head and instead get their leg.)

Agent here is the Security Minister being hospitalized in Ethiopia after he was shot in a shoot out between highest ranking Police Commander and a subordinate who was the commander of another branch of the Puntland Police.

Merka we do not know yet. It is complicated but it boils down to the Police Commander being one of the closest friends to Abdiwali Gaas as they share the same sub clan and region both hailing from Mudug.

Couple of weeks ago the VP Abdihakin Amey suspended him because of his hehaviour ordering his shot deputy to continue his work.

When Abdiwali Gaas came back and the VP left the country Gaas reversed the decision and ordered the Police Commander to continue and removed his suspension because he felt that Amey was targeting his ‘men‘.

It was a internal struggle between Gaas and his VP. Gaas is very clannish and felt that his clan member was picked upon.

The Governor on the other hand is a hard working loyal individual who was previously the commander of the Presidential troops when his uncle was the President of Puntland.

There are numerous factors of which clan is a factor but there are other things as well such as the Police Commander being angry about his suspension and probably trying to assert himself as he feels entitled due to belonging to the same subclan as Gaas.

They were fighting because each assumed was in charge of the security of the region of Nugaal.

After that the Commander went mad and took his pistol trying to murder the Governor but instead shot his deputy who is conveniently from Amey‘s clan who suspended the Police Commander while Gaas was abroad.

If they are shooting each other after simple fist fights and arguments, their guns should beconfiscated before someone gets killed
