Both ahmara and Oromo are clamining Dire Dawa as theirs.

What are my viewpoints?

The way you see the country moving forward and our position in the country. As well as your comparisons. Such as this one:

I don't mean to offend or upset you but get over it bro. Were the Aboriginals in the New World not conquered? Were they not assimilated with the Europeans? Don't they speak English and Spanish and Portuguese?

Also just because there are non-Somalis living in Dir Dhaba, it doesn't mean that it ain't Somali. Maybe not fully Somali today, but it can still be defined as a Somali city.

They let us down. They lost. No one likes losers. They were captured. The 77' soldiers were also captured. They are not war heroes. We like people who weren't captured.

Huh? With all due respect, that's the thought-process of child :mjlol:

I don't know if you're trolling or being honest here. We may have lost in the sense that we're still part of the country today. But we aren't losers tho.

In fact, things have improved for us in the country, both politically and non-politically. Unfortunately not with our end goal. But why hold grudges against those who sacrificed for us (and payed the ultimately price for it)? Did they do you any harm? Would you prefer if they didn't do anything?

Your rhethoric come across as those Ethiopianist who despises us :drakewtf:

I have no grudge. But they were failures and were too stupid to take more land near Addis. No caqli. No wonder they are subjects.

I agree that we should've had another strategy. One, to focus on the Somali inhabited territory alone. And two, instead of Somalia invading; support a rebel group with weapons and other support.

But not only did we end up losing that war, Ethiopia turned on Somalia which eventually led to its collapse.

No caqli. No wonder they are subjects.

People have different strategies. Eritrea did the same, which forced the central gov't to sign off their independence. Which is what our generals were aiming at. Otherwise, they would recognize our region as rightfully Ethiopian, but occupied by Somalia.

Unfortunately, it is essentially Ethiopian now. Oromo expansion and Amhara migration has made it demographically “Ethiopian”. Even if they decided to give away Ogaden tomorrow to Somalia, Dir Dawa is too developed for them to give away now.

TPLF utilised similar tactics to take over Welkait which they claim is “Western Tigray”

Nah I don’t think so. Dire dhaba is similar to London. The native English people are a minority in London but make up the vast majority outside of the city in the countryside. Likewise Dirdhaba’s native people (Somalis) are a minority inside the city but make up the vast majority outside of it. The entire countryside is full of Issa, Gurgura and Gadbursi tribesmen and other clans.

A lot of my family is from dire dawa, it’s mostly Somalis (dna wise) who will claim Oromo or Somalis when convenient, and and speak af somali or afaan Oromo depending on the situation, I agree that it’s a orginially Somali area, so it’s therefore a Somali city in a sense, but it’s a “Ethiopian” city now unfortunately, as I’ve said here before, it’s all about landheere and langaab, I’ve learned that Somalis, oromos, habesha don’t believe in miskeen and morale people so it’s about who is landheere and langaab, tbh what can Somalis do to gain resources and soft power in east Africa is the real question in east Africa tbh.

I’m not here to be a @Abba Sadacha type of guy who tells half truths, You guys here are being too narrow minded, the question I pose to my fellow waryas here is that if you believe that oromos and habesha are the enemy, you either have to go out and impose power and will, on top of gaining more resources and improving one’s economy to gain respect from others, the brutal reality is that east Africa may be going trough what Europe went through, is that ethnic groups are trying to asslimilate other ethnic groups to make east Africa into one under their vision

People on this site don't like me because I don't sugarcoat the truth. I am very plain spoken and I tell it like it is. I am not defeatist because I have nothing to lose or gain with K5s current situation. My ancestors just happen to be from there. That's it. I have no emotional connection. I am just reporting the facts. Somalis in K5 and in NFD have been conquered. Why are people allergic to the truth? Why must I soften the language used to make people feel better? I hope the situation changes but the reality should be accepted. This "we are an independent region" is nonsense. The Xabash/Oromo handpick whoever "governs" Somali Region and they do it so brilliantly. They do so understanding clan and sub clan and sub sub sub clan dynamics. They divide and conquer the Somalis. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
You know what funny, If you ask most Somalis in oromia who they dislike, it’s not gonna be the ethio government at the top of the list, but instead they will name other somali qabils first, qabil is the downfall of my people wlhi

Yup. That's why Somali clans will claim Oromo before other Somali clans. There are few entire clans that claim Oromo but all clans in K5 have people at the individual and group level that claim Oromo in new towns instead of being a Gadabursi, Ogadan, Habar Awal, Issa or Karanle sheegato. The hate runs deep.
