Both ahmara and Oromo are clamining Dire Dawa as theirs.

Land belongs to whoever is more xoogweyn, not necessarily history or business or even demographics. Who controls politically determines who the land belongs to.

You should've kept this for yourself :kodaksmiley:

All of Ethiopia's people are under the direct control of Addis. Some have accepted their rule, while others are either hesitant or against it, in its entirety.

Whoever sits in Arat kilo decides the path of the country, i.e. the PM. On the ground, there are no xoog. Everyone is armed and if you attack someone, expect to be targeted as well. Hence, barely any change of hands, of any land in Ethiopian conflicts. To your dismay :lolbron:

Lots of the Gurgura in Dire Dhaba claim Oromo anyway. Even without the assimilated Gurgura, the Oromo have to be half of the town. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more Amhara than Somali either.

I would argue even Somali Region does not belong to Somalis. The Xabashi/Oromo control it. It's their playground. Unfortunately the Somalis have been conquered. It's a tough pill to swallow and Somalis are in the denial stage but that's the reality my friend.

Gurgura claiming Dir Dhaba isn't news, since it's their region. Together with other Somalis.

And Oromos don't amount to half the population of Dir Dhaba. Neither the city, nor the region of Dir Dhaba. Which is why they always use Gurgura to boost their numbers (even in census), when most Gurgura don't even claim Oromo, lol. You're probably confusing Oromo speakers for being Oromos.

Oh, come on! Just because the reg'l gov't is controlled by Addis doesn't mean that the Somali region doesn't belong to Somalis. Please, don't make yourself come across as ignorant. As I said before, things fluctuate. Your claim would be more believable if it was said during the rule of Haile Selassie and Mengistu. And few thought that it would get better. But today, that's not the case.

I'm not denial about anything. In fact, the contrary. I'm optimistic that things will improve for Somalis in this godforsaken country

I don't mean to offend or upset you but get over it bro. Were the Aboriginals in the New World not conquered? Were they not assimilated with the Europeans? Don't they speak English and Spanish and Portuguese?

People on this site don't like me because I don't sugarcoat the truth. I am very plain spoken and I tell it like it is. I am not defeatist because I have nothing to lose or gain with K5s current situation. My ancestors just happen to be from there. That's it. I have no emotional connection. I am just reporting the facts. Somalis in K5 and in NFD have been conquered. Why are people allergic to the truth? Why must I soften the language used to make people feel better? I hope the situation changes but the reality should be accepted. This "we are an independent region" is nonsense. The Xabash/Oromo handpick whoever "governs" Somali Region and they do it so brilliantly. They do so understanding clan and sub clan and sub sub sub clan dynamics. They divide and conquer the Somalis. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I'm not offended by anything walaal. But what do you mean get over it?!?! :kodaksmiley:

That's like someone unlawfully occupying your home and 'outsiders' telling you to give up and move on. Where's the rationality in that? :comeon:

You're correct. But we've never reached that level of assimilation, despite being occupied for a long time. And it will never happen either. Most of us don't speak Amharic nor Oromo. We've rejected everything else Addis have forced upon us. What makes you think that we will lay flat to coming demands from them?

Another difference, the natives was forcefully turned into a minority. Somalis may be a minority in Ethiopia, but luckily unlike most other countries like the Kurds in Turkey; we are not alone. Today, Tigrayans feel the same as Somalis. Even muslims Oromos; most of them want to secede from Ethiopia. The rest of Oromos believe in federalism/autonomy. Not to mention other ethnic groups as well. Together we compromisse the majority of Ethiopia. Hence, a better position to achieve our agenda. The main obstacle ahead of us is true democracy. If/once that happens, you'll probably eat your own words.

Sorry, I'll not fall into your defeatist mindset :camby:

I didn't say be defeatist. Just accept the current reality. Dire Dhaba is not a Somali city anymore.
