What purposes does it serve a UK citizen other than for travelling and being needed for jobs abroad? This is a serious question as I've never lived in a country I was native to (grew up in the UAE with a SOM pass) so I've always needed my passport.

Bruh he is taking away their British nationality. This can only be done to people with dual citizenship. It leaves the door wide open for deportation. They have already made it into law that they don't have to notify you. They will simply deport you on a casual monday
