Won't be blessed for long. Gode Zone is quickly increasing its use of Shabelle water. They are now planting wheat, which is the second most water intensive grain after rice. I doubt that much water will be reaching Lower Shabelle 9 years from now.

Shabelle river in Somalia will most likely become a seasonal river. The Ethiopians are building dams upstream from Juba river too. Genale-Dawa 3 alone will reduce total streamflow at Juba river by more than 30%. They've got 2 other dams like that coming up. To put it simply, both rivers are fucked and it's a damn shame the politicians back home aren't giving it the attention it deserves.
