A 14-year-old black student from North Carolina catfished her white peers by changing her profile picture and name on social media to infiltrate a group chat they created.

Cenayia Edwards, a freshman at East Wake High School said a white friend of hers told her about the group chat, and she wanted to investigate to get proof of how they act.

After Edwards changed her profile photo and name, she told her friend to add her to the group chat.

Edwards stated:

“I was like, ‘Add me to it,’ because I wanted to see what they were talking about. And I wanted to have proof that they were talking about this.”

After Edwards was added, she found an enormous amount of racist comments, which included phrases like:

“Pullin triggers and shootin n***ers,” “kill n***er babies,” “Pick that cotton, you black son of a b**ch”

Another one of the messages read:

“#bringslaveryback.”

At one point during the chat, one of the members wondered if they should change their name to “Black Slayer”. Edwards was so shocked that she tried to call out the chat for being racist, and one of the members replied to her with a penguin-holding-a-gun meme saying:

“Shut up n****r.”

Edwards says she was shocked to find out she knew the girl who created the group chat, implying she didn’t think that the girl would be that kind of person. The girl who created the group chat wasn’t publically named.

Wake County Schools spokeswoman, Lisa Luten, and Johnston County School spokesman, Nathanael Shelton, confirmed that the two districts are investigating the racist incident and trying to find the students who will be punished.

Today, Cecelia Edwards, Cenayia Edwards’ mother held a press conference, broadcasted on the local news and read out the racist message screenshots her daughter managed to get from the chat, and called for action against the students, and demanded they be punished immediately.

To prove they were racist, A black girl pretended to be white to join group chat of her white peers

We all said stupid and racist things at that age while complaining of the racism of others. Punishment doesn't solve the problem, but educate teenagers about racism and the hurt it causes others. Punishments would only drive them into the arms of racist groups.

"Pick that cotton, you black son of a "

I like that. Next time I go to the US, I will say that to some AA dude.

Nothing wrong with that. It's a private group chat between members of a race. Similar sh*t could also be found in Madow group chats as well. Or any other private group chats of other ethnicities/races, for that matter.

In a liberal world group chats are public. Be grateful we are at the bottom of the barrel, that are sh1t isn't takin seriously.
