Now this picture is especially interesting to me cause I dont think they chose the airlines at random, you can see how they added Somali Airlines indicating that they might be serious about reviving it, but also other international airlines that fly or could fly to Somalia, I remember reading that the minister of civil aviation got multiple requests by international airlines to start flying to xamar but couldn't accept due to the congestion and size of Aden cadde, British Airways and American Airlines make sense because there's lots of Somalis in UK and Minnesota, Qatar and Turkish Airlines already fly to Xamar as well but idk about virgin atlantic

No news for the new sea-port but we got the first rendering of the special economic zone

I've read that it will have a maximum capacity of 5 million passengers a year which isnt a lot compared to international standards. I was thinking if we want to take advantage of our strategic location and become an international hub, if there are plans for expansion in the future such as adding more terminals and gates?

Being an international hub isnt the goal, Somalia doesnt even have a flag carrier, but yes they said that as soon as capacity starts reaching the maximum they will build another terminal, they already have the plans

By the way there will still be aden cadde has a secondary airport, think of it like London heathrow and gatwick, or new york JFK and laguardia airports

Aden cadde will probably mainly serve domestic flights, its a rapidly growing sector, the new airport will be for international flights

Just swallow your cuqdad, say ma shaa allah and move on
How is it cuqdad when I'm simply pointing out incompetence? Also, say mashallah to what? A 3D model made in Blender? I'm sorry if I'm not so easily fooled. All I’m going to say is that you’ll be waiting for these projects for a long time. I mean, they already spent 10 years adding a second runway to their 3D model. Maybe they’ll add a third one in the next decade, and you’ll still be every bit as impressed.

Its a renovation of the Terminal that was signed less than a week ago nobody mentionned runways you low iq hutu

I hope they are training new engineers to take over future jobs and maintenance.
These kenyan and ugandan engineers probably got the best opportunity in their lives which they certainly wouldnt find in their home country, for more than 5 years they will get a nice usd salary with lodging, im sure most of them will stay on the job until phase 3 which will be completed in the 2030s, they'll come back to uganda and kenya taajir

Are there any Somalis involved in this job? Are they building anything?
Yes, engineers are foreign tho

No, a lot of the engineers are Somalis.

All the mid- level engineers are Somali as well

The laborers , technicians and mechanics on site are also Somali.

Don't listen to the comments by clueless wax magaraato under the videos, they see 2 or 3 foreigners like Kenyans employed to work alongside Somalis and spaz out , when the majority are Somali and they are there to give technical support because its such a large and broad complex project and it requires more available expertise, especially since others are working on other projects.

All the people wearing vests are either engineers or managers. This Somali girl next to this foreign equipment manager is also an engineer.

Somali architects are also involved in the project, since its being built by Somali owned construction and engineering company and they source building materials, fuel from regional business suppliers as well. So the money sunk into this project just stays in the economy and is creating a chain of local employment from labourers, machine operators, electricians, plumbers, cooks and even drivers. Universities have been asked to design courses tied to this so that students can gain experience ,surveying, drafting and in project management.

I also explained a bit about the reason why they are building a new airport in in the National Transformation development plan 2025-2029 thread.

So have a read, if anyone is interested:
Another thing that highlights how large the increased economic growth/trade has been is the air traffic coming into Somalia, which has made the airport congested because it was not originally built to handle that volume. If official numbers undercount trade and passenger flows, then the “unexpected” congestion at Mogadishu airport makes sense. What’s happening on the ground (more goods, more travelers, more business flows) is outpacing what the official books show.
So improving aviation infrastructure became a national priority

and the Aviation minister said she has received numerous requests from major airlines that wish to start flying into Mogadishu but are hampered by the congestion. They collected 3.4 billion investments from Somalis domestically and from Somali transnational business community to sink into development to transform the city to improve connectivity.

They already began investing 1 billion into the airport to launch constructions:

This also supports what i said to @Hilmaam in the China thread how world class and advanced certain local Somali construction companies have become to be trusted with such complex high value projects. This will keep all the money in the economy , creates jobs for Somali engineers and technicians. It's creates a lot of skill building that can be transferred into other projects in the future.
The local job creation and economic growth will be immense, the airport development is domestically driven.
