Why do many of us vehemently oppose Farmajo with passion when the alternative, aka Mogadishu clan presidential candidates are far far worse for Puntland as well as Somalia as a whole?

I mean, Farmajo is not an angel or a perfect president. But he hasn't waged war against Puntland the way Xassan Qoslaye did by arming Galhutu state twice during the Galkacyo wars. Farmajo isn't anywhere near as corrupt as Xassan Qoslaye was or the other Mogadishu clan politicians. And then we've got C/ Shakur, aka the seller of our waters to Kenya, running for president. What a joke. I would rather have a second Farmajo presidency over Xassan Qoslaye returning to villa Somalia or God forbid, C/ Shakur as our next president.

I see what you're saying. But honestly, the PM position is usually weak, especially when Hawiye is president. And PM can be removed at anytime. I think PL leadership should aim higher than PM position, if not then I personally think it would be better to have a second Farmajo presidency than Mogadishu clan president who will be terrible for the country. Honestly, that Prime Minister seat hold many power. Without the PM seat, your simply confined into your Federal State. Why do you think that Puntland is working so hard against Farmajo. You cannot call the shots from Garowe the same way you can in Mogadishu. HAK and the Mursade was a odd case. Federalism may hold some power, but nothing beats the power within the SFG.

If we are going look deeper into the dynamaics, then its a matter of who control and is the most infuentical in the Darood clan. Kabalax or Sade. If we put our selfish interests aside and think rationally HAG are not just the enemies of Puntland but they're danger to themselves and to the entire nation. Almost all HAG presidential candidates are corrupted to the core driven by selfish financial interests to enrich themselves and their close friends at the expense of the people. They can't govern, or uplift their own regions let alone run the entire country.

I would rather have a new president who's not soaked in blood, who's not aligned with the backward vision of HAG candidates, who's pro federalism and pro reconciliation. If such a man isn't available then Farmaajo is the lesser evil and would rather have him sit on the throne.

@PuntiteQueen I see what you’re saying we do have stronger commitments in terms of all sorts of developments and political aspects. But we also have big challenges facing us specially in this period were in now. I’m speaking as someone on the ground right now. Who have been traveling through Mudug Nugaal Sool and bari. At the end of the day what matters is the population and they are seeing an increase of economical downfall. So I really do believe it’s extremely important to be self critical even though we are the best performing state within the union. And not easily get carried away by our political clout.
